I don't remember seeing you at the General Meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 @ 5:30 pm
Kelly Norton from Datascope will be providing the educational presentation for the meeting on: "Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps - A Lot To Know". CLICK HERE to view and/or download the presentation.
The Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) is a mechanical device that is used to decrease myocardial oxygen demand while at the same time increasing cardiac output. By increasing cardiac output it also increases coronary blood flow and therefore myocardial oxygen delivery. It consists of a cylindrical balloon that sits in the aorta and counterpulsates. That is, it actively deflates in systole increasing forward blood flow by reducing afterload, and actively inflates in diastole increasing blood flow to the coronary arteries. The balloon is inflated during diastole by a computer controlled, ECG linked mechanism. This controls the flow of helium from a cylinder into and out of the balloon. Helium is used because its low viscosity allows it to travel quickly through the long connecting tubes.
Here is an outline of the program:
1) A Brief history of IABP Technology. 2) The theory behind it all. 3) What are the Indications and Contra-Indications? 4) Clinical Applications. 5) Equipment and System Troubleshooting. 6) Trends and Outcomes. 7) Heart Failure Future Technologies.
Dinner will be provided for those in attendance.

WHAT: Fluke NetTool Analyzer
The program will be presented by Greg Kubik from Fluke on the handheld NetTool Analyzer and how it works. A practical program that will Illustrate computer network troublshooting with a analyzer designed to do it.
When your network is sick, you become the network doctor and in your "little black bag" of diagnostic tools should be a handheld network analyzer. These devices can reveal cable faults, detect chattering network adapters, identify switch malfunctions, and determine the nature of a router malady. These are the problems that cause most network failures. Having the right tool can save many hours or even days of computer network downtime.
